Chika Kato

Lives and works in Tokyo. She graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 2002. Using various media such as drawings, photography and video, Kato's work focuses on themes such as the "power of image", "the shifting relationship of viewing and viewed", "frame and network", and "time travel." For example, she inserts hints of fictitious images in to the space of reality. By introducing images of people into the space of her artwork (a type of frame), she creates a fluid process. At the same time, a type of temporal frame is also extracted.
In this process one can feel the existence of a countless number of worlds and a rough network of meanings is created. This enables a voyage beyond the individual and time and space.
