Hikaru Suzuki

Nobita's room with nobody in it, a deserted park, the exterior of Nobi's home in rain.
In Hikaru Suzuki's work Doraemon (2008), you can see the backgrounds from the popular Japanese animation cartoon, Doraemon; but the famous characters are absent. By removing the charcaters from the picture Suzuki has made the familiar into something strange and haunted with absense.

Suzuki won a special jury award at the Tokyo Art Awards in 2008. In the same year, he participated in a group show in London and showed two installations in the Yokohama Art and Home Collection.
Hikaru Suzuki was born in 1984 and studied at IAMAS (International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences)in 2009. He lives and works in Gifu, Japan.
